Immediate (December 30, 2005) Mike Noble Stone Named to Fletcher Allen BoardBURLINGTON, VT - Roger C. Stone has accepted an invitation to join the Fletcher Allen Board of Trustees. He replaces Daniel Chirico, who resigned from the board because of a move out of state. Stone, a native of Burlington, is president of Stone Investment Advisory, Inc., a company he founded in 1995. The company provides employer consultations about the investment portion of retirement plans and institutional investment management. "I am very pleased to welcome Roger to the board of Fletcher Allen," said William Schubart, chair of the Fletcher Allen Board of Trustees. "Roger brings strong financial expertise to this board. I look forward to working with him." "I look forward to joining the Fletcher Allen board," Stone said. "Fletcher Allen is a key institution in the fabric of this region and I hope I can contribute to the effort of making Fletcher Allen an even better health care organization." From 1971 until his return to Burlington, Stone worked in the investment management field in Boston. From 1991 to 1995, Stone was a principal at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Inc., where he was a product leader and portfolio manager of institutional assets. For the previous 15 years, Stone was executive vice president, director and chief investment officer--fixed income at State Street Research & Management Co. His responsibilities were investment oversight, asset allocation, economic coordination, client service and business management for institutional and mutual fund assets. Stone attended the University of Vermont and received a bachelor of arts in political science in 1964. He and his wife, Kit, reside in Shelburne, Vermont. Background on the Fletcher Allen Board of Trustees The Fletcher Allen Health Care Board of Trustees has 18 members. Fletcher Allen's four parent organizations - Fanny Allen Corporation, Vermont Health Foundation, University Health Center and the University of Vermont - each appoints four trustees to the board. In addition to these 16 members, the chief executive officer is an ex officio board member, and the chair of the board is elected by the other trustees. The president of the Medical Staff of Fletcher Allen also attends all board meetings by invitation, but does not vote. |
