
This list is an overview of conferences within the department. There are many other conferences, many multidisciplinary, that occur throughout each rotation but not on a specific schedule. As a large teaching hospital, there are ample opportunities to communicate via conferencing.
Didactics:
A weekly 2 hour conference consisting of 2 1-hour long presentations involving the residents and attendings. The topics follow the CREOG Learning Objectives for Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology. This time is completely protected from clinical duties, with attending coverage.
Departmental:
Conferences in which the entire faculty and students attend. Most residents attend, with the Night Float covering duties until conferences are over.
Grand Rounds: weekly for 1 hour Ob/Gyn Morbidity and Mortality Conference: twice monthly for 1 hour Gyn Morbidity and Mortality Conference: weekly for one half hour Pathology Conference: twice monthly for 1 hour Resident Journal Club: bi-monthly for 1 hour Research Seminars: Monthly for 1 hour
Subspecialty Rotation Conferences:
Conferences attended by the residents involved in the rotations.
Obstetrics/Maternal Fetal Medicine: Teaching rounds- 3 times per week for 1 hour Ultrasound/Prenatal Diagnosis Conference- 2 times/month for 1 hour Neonatal Conference- 2 times/month for 1 hour
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility: Case Presentation- 1 ½ hours weekly Journal Club- 1 ½ hours weekly
Gynecology/Gynecologic Oncology: Teaching Rounds- 5 days/week for 1 hour Journal club- 1 hour/week Gynecology Case Presentation- 1 hour/week
