The Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training Program was started at the University of Vermont in 1966. Eighty-one residents have completed the program, with approximately 20.5% now in full-time academic medicine, another 5.1% in private practice with an academic affiliation, and 74.4% solely in private practice. In July of 1980, the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine joined to become the amalgamated Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. The Residency Review Committee of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Medical Association have approved our program for fifteen residents in a five-year program with no citations. We accept applications for the residency program on ERAS.
