Welcome to Graduate Medical Education at Fletcher Allen Health Care and the University of Vermont College of Medicine. We are a nationally recognized academic medical center located amid the beautiful countryside of Vermont. We are dedicated to excellence in patient care, medical education and research. Our affiliation with UVM College of Medicine, the seventh oldest medical college of the nation, offers a rich tradition of academic excellence and scientific discovery. Extramural support for our research activities continues to increase annually. We have recently instituted a new curriculum for our medical students -- designed to reflect modern science by promoting interdisciplinary teaching and strengthening the relationship between clinical and basic sciences. The new front door for our Medical Center Campus opened in September which greatly enhances care for our patients. A new Ambulatory Care Center includes outpatient specialty clinics relocated from the University Health Center Campus that have been designed with patients’ needs in mind. They bring a wide range of services and experts together in one area of the medical center. In addition, the new Medical Education Center built in alliance with our partners at the University of Vermont features a 150-seat auditorium, expanded classrooms, lecture halls and the Dana Medical Library. The Education Center creates a physical link between Fletcher Allen and the University of Vermont College of Medicine and College of Nursing and Health Sciences, strengthening our academic health center, and enhancing our ability to carry out our missions of patient care, education, research and service to the community. We invite you to tour our Graduate Medical Education Web site and learn about the opportunities available to you. David C. Adams, M.D. |
