Education
At the completion of two years of general clinical training each cardiology fellow will understand the basic principles of two dimensional and Doppler ultrasound and cardiac anatomy. Our program enhances each fellow to possess the necessary imaging, and interpretive skills required for Level II certification.
All fellows will be expected to have performed and interpreted a minimum of 300 two-dimensional Doppler echocardiographic studies. Training for level III certification is offered and includes additional training in stress echocardiography, transesophagel echocardiography and application of echocardiography for complex congenital heart disease.
Level III training can be accomplished during the third year of clinical training and includes interpretation of a minimum of an additional 350 transthoracic studies as well as performance and interpretation of a minimum of 150 transesophagal studies.
