Education

Drs. Schneider and HayesTreatment of valvular heart disease continues to improve. The University Cardiology Associates have participated in the development of novel surgical treatments and in the evaluation of new medical therapies. Both in the inpatient and outpatient facilities, fellows in the program are exposed to a variety of clinical scenarios as they participate in the care of patients with complex valvular heart disease.  University Cardiology Associates provide didactic lectures to fellows and physicians in the surrounding communities.

Fellows participate in clinical and translational research designed to define optimal treatment of valvular heart disease. Through the ambulatory experience, fellows develop skills in longitudinal management of patients with valvular heart disease and stable symptoms. Because echocardiography is commonly used to diagnose and monitor valvular heart disease, rotations in echocardiography provide a robust opportunity to study the pathophysiology of a wide spectrum of valvular heart disease.
