| It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Fletcher Allen Health Care (FAHC), Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine web site. The Fletcher Allen Health Care Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is closely integrated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine and Medical Laboratory and Radiation Sciences . The Department has training programs in the following areas: an integrated anatomic and clinical pathology residency, cytopathology fellowship, dermatopathology fellowship, surgical pathology fellowship and cytotechnology school. Students in the schools of medicine and medical technology at the University of Vermont rotate through our clinical services. The clinical laboratory does more than 2 million tests a year. In anatomic pathology we have more than 30,000 surgical cases, 60,000 cytology cases and nearly 400 combined hospital and medical examiner autopsies. The clinical laboratory is the reference laboratory for our region on northern New England. The Fletcher Allent Health Care laboratory is the reference laboratory for the Northeast Clinical Laboratory Alliance which is comprised of hospitals in the states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Northern New York. This Alliance, affilated with Mayo Medical Laboratories, is very successful. The laboratory offers clinical consultation from board certified and subspecialized pathologists in all major subspecialties of pathology.
