Financial Assistance
The Patient Assistance Program at Fletcher Allen Health Care
Many of our patients have health care bills that are beyond the financial reach of the family. To help these patients manage the cost of quality health care, Fletcher Allen offers its own Financial Assistance Program. You will find the contact information for the Patient Assistance Program printed on every Fletcher Allen self-pay statement.
Patients should explore all options regarding health care finance. Patients need to follow the rules of insurance, apply for state and federal programs and cooperate with Fletcher Allen staff members who are helping the patients with these applications.
When there is no help from state, federal and private sources, the Fletcher Allen Patient Assistance Program can offer full or partial financial assistance to those patients who cannot meet the financial obligation of essential health care.
Patients within our service area are eligible to apply. The service area encompasses all of Vermont plus seven counties in upstate New York: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, St. Lawrence, Warren and Washington counties.
Financial assistance is not available on accounts that have already aged to a collection agency; please address your bills before the bills become delinquent.
Financial assistance is also not available for elective work such as cosmetic surgery and infertility therapies.
The financial assistance application will require the household income and expenses, three consecutive pay stubs as proof of income and any explanation regarding how expenses are being met when the income listed is less than the expenses listed. An application plus a detail of the requirements of the application will be sent upon request. There are special instructions for our patients who are self-employed.
The Patient Assistance Program is here to help you. Be sure to contact us and take advantage of this special program. Call Tammy directly at 802-847-8234 or toll free through the Receptionist 1-800-639-2719.
