Welcome to Preoperative Services at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

Welcome to the Preop Services web site.  We hope the information is helpful to make your enitre peri-operative experience one that is based on current and accurate information.  We in Preop Services strive to provide the highest customer service and appreciate any and all feedback.

We are a department comprised of 32 experienced Registered Nurses and 8 support staff.  We provide several disparate and distinct services to ensure a seamless experience in preparation of your surgical procedure.

We cover two campuses, Fanny Allen and the Main Medical Center campus, and serve three distinct functions that include anesthesia prescreen nursing assessments (phone calls), chart compilation and review and day of surgery preparation.

During the time of your phone call, a Registered Nurse assesses for any problems that may result from administration of anesthesia.  If you have multiple medical problems, or a history of anesthesia complication you may be seen onsite for an evaluation.  The Registered Nurses consult with Anesthesia when necessary to assist in coordination of your care.  In addition, we consult pastoral care, case management and patient and family services whenever necessary to make your experience as coordinated as possible.  We consult with your surgeon's office to ensure all necessary documentation is available for your surgery.  Lastly, our nurses in surgical admissions will prepare you for your procedure.

Surgical Admissions is located at both the Medical Center Campus on the third level of the West Pavilion and at the Fanny Allen Campus.
