The Department of Psychiatry practices in a variety of settings: two general psychiatric inpatient units on the Medical Center Campus; an acute care unit at the Vermont State Hospital (VSH); a crisis intervention service operated in conjunction with the area's community mental health services; an outpatient psychiatry clinic for adults and children; partial hospitalization program (Seneca Center); general hospital wards of the Medical Center Campus for consultation work; substance abuse treatment facilities including a new methadone treatment facility; and several departmental research units. The Department is an active collaborator with a number of other health systems, including the Vermont Department of Mental Health, and a variety of community-based services in mental health and substance abuse.
