The mission of the Fletcher Allen Women's Health Care Service
is to provide and advocate for caring, comprehensive, and coordinated
health care for women in a respectful, sharing, and safe environment.
Fletcher Allen has a long and rich history of providing a compassionate
environment for childbirth. We have been delivering babies since 1905.
Today, we deliver more than 2,200 babies every year, slightly more than
a third of all of the babies born in Vermont.
In our role as a referral site for the region,
we provide expert care for high-risk pregnancies and high-risk births.
The state’s only neonatal intensive care unit is located here.
In alliance with the University of Vermont, Fletcher Allen is Vermont’s
academic
health center and one of only 125 such centers in the
country. Our academic affiliation allows us to provide the best
patient care possible by bringing research and education to the
bedside.
