| The
Fletcher Allen Department of Radiology is currently participating in numerous
clinical research protocols. The majority of theses studies are written
and conducted by attending faculty in the department with help from residents
and medical students. Current areas of interest include imaging of vascular
disease such as the carotid and renal arteries and iliac vessels.
Other studies aid investigators in following cancer lesions to see if
a patient is responding to a novel drug newly on the market. New diagnostic
imaging machines are also being developed to aid in the early diagnosis
of breast cancer, low bone density and lymphedema. Radiology works with
many departments in the FAHC/UVM system to carry out cutting edge research
including the Vermont Cancer Center, The Clinical Research Center, and
Vascular Surgery. For more information on ongoing clinical trials please
