Welcome

Fletcher Allen Health Care employs highly qualified and caring professionals from the disciplines of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Athletic Training, Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and Therapeutic Recreation to meet the needs of our patients.  Patients whose lives have been disrupted by a serious illness, injury, or other disabling condition have access to skilled therapy utilizing the most current technologies and treatment techniques.  Our rehabilitation therapists collaborate closely with other members of the medical team to provide comprehensive and coordinated care across all patient settings including the Medical Center Hospital, the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, and six outpatient sites.

MISSION:

Improve the health status of communities served

We provide the full continuum of rehabilitation services.  The needs of our patients are our highest priority.  We are committed to serving as the regional leader in the field of rehabilitation. We are committed to serving as advocates for persons with disabilities on a local, state, and national level.

Improve the quality, cost, and accessibility of health care

Our efforts are ongoing in seeking new ways to improve the quality and outcomes of the services we provide.  We utilize national and regional benchmarks to assess the quality and cost-effectiveness of our services and to identify opportunities for improvement.

Integrate health care services with teaching and research

Through our commitment to evidence-based practice, we continuously strive to improve the methods for quantifying our effectiveness, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.  We hold ourselves accountable for providing care that is supported by best available evidence, as well as sharing our results in ongoing efforts to contribute to the professional body of knowledge. We actively support the development of tomorrow's health care providers through our clinical education programs for therapy students who come to us from many universities across the country.  Additionally,  we maintain an ongoing liaison with the University of Vermont Physical Therapy program and Communication Sciences department.

Work with other providers to integrate services

A spirit of partnership and accountability characterizes our approach to achieving the greatest benefit for our patients. Within Fletcher Allen, we value and work closely with all members of the clinical team, including the patient and family.  Our commitment to collaboration extends beyond the limits of Fletcher Allen and includes referral sources, community agencies, and other caregivers.

MEASURE OF OUR SUCCESS:

The human desires for happiness and life success are not lost with an impairment or disability.

Our ideal outcome is a patient who can say:

"I go where I wish to go and do what I wish to do."

"I can enjoy relationships that are important to me."

"My self worth is recognized."

"I can fulfill my 'purpose on earth'."

We measure our success by our ability to develop the human potential of our patients, our co-workers, and ourselves.
