Fletcher Allen Health Care, in alliance with the University of Vermont, is the state’s academic health center and one of only 125 such centers in the country. Our academic affiliation allows us to provide the best patient care possible by bringing research and education to the bedside.

Fletcher Allen Health Care is a Level I Bariatric Surgery Center, which is the American College of Surgeons' highest rating.

Currently, three procedures are available in our Obesity Surgery program:

• Open Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y) Surgery 
• Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y) Surgery
• Lap-Band Surgery
• Comparison

All procedures require thorough screening and preparation to maximize the opportunity for a successful outcome, and they also require lifetime follow-up for weight maintenance and regularly scheduled screening for complications.
