Our Success Rates

Interpretation of an IVF program success rates is tricky business at best.  There are multiple and confusing ways to present success.  Should the denominator be all positive pregnancy tests, or babies in the bassinet?  What about the numerator:  cycle starts, retrievals, or embryo transfers?  Other factors also impact a program's success rates:  the age of the patients, their diagnosis, their FSH levels, and the mix of regular and donor egg IVF.

At the Vermont Center for Reproductive Medicine, our first priority is to give everyone the best shot at having a baby as we can.  We don't cancel lot of cycles, manipulate rates, or turn away poor prognosis candidates for the sake of our rates.  On the other hand, if ART is truly not appropriate for you, we will tell you that, openly and honestly.

We have provided our 2004, 2005, and 2006 rates in as clear a form as possible, for both regular and donor IVF.  The 2004 and 2005 rates are excerpted from our Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) rates.  Our 2006 rates are still not complete, but we have provided the most up-to-date figures we can.

Because our program is not large, we can't provide meaningful figures for rates per diagnosis.

We have, however, provided combined 2006-2006 figures stratified by age, to give an indication of the impact of that factor on IVF success.

We are proud of our rates, and would love the opportunity to talk about them with you.
