Welcome
Each stage of a woman's life involves physical and psychological changes. Most women will experience - some time in their life - feelings of sadness, being overwhelmed or anxious. Infertility, pregnancy, post partum, loss, parenting, relationship and career changes, menopause, sexual issues, cancer, and major surgical procedures illicit emotions often expressed during a visit to the doctor's office. However, many women are hesitant to visit a mental health professional.
The Women's Health Care Service adheres to the philosophy of optimum health through attention to the mind and body. Physicians refer patients who are having temporary trouble coping to Dr. Judith Gerber for evaluation and brief cognitive behavioral therapy if indicated. Seeking such emotional support can prevent new psychological difficulties from turning into major depression or a broken relationship.
