1. Pathophysiology of Pre-eclampsia
We are examining a specific hypothesis that attempts to explain the development of pre-eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia is a disease that affects women during pregnancy, causing hypertension and protein in the urine, that can create life-threatening complications for both mother and child.
2. Examination of the Impact of Smoking Cessation on Fetal Body Composition and Growth
We are the examining the fetal growth patterns during pregnancy for women who are enrolled in a voucher based incentive program that is designed to reduce cigarette smoking in pregnancy.
3. Uterine Artery Steroid Responsiveness
Adequate blood flow to the uterus is necessary both for conception and for successful pregnancy outcomes. We are studying specific hormones that appear to influence uterine blood flow with a goal of understanding the factors that control blood flow to the uterus.
