Fletcher Allen/UVM Providers Volunteer at 'Stowe Weekend of Hope'5th Annual Cancer Event Kicks Off April 28th BURLINGTON, VT - More than twenty Fletcher Allen Health Care/University of Vermont health care providers will participate in the 5th annual Stowe Weekend of Hope April 28-May 1, 2005. Organized to provide support and education to cancer patients and their families, the Weekend of Hope includes lectures and workshops by many of the foremost experts in cancer treatment and prevention today. With topics ranging from the latest in radiation therapy to ways to offer support to children whose parents have cancer, the event is designed to provide information to anyone who has been affected by the disease. More than 1,500 people from across the United States and Canada are expected at Stowe for the Weekend of Hope, and the lodging members of the Stowe Area Association are providing hundreds of free rooms for individuals and families traveling long distances. Also, Amtrak is again providing free transportation with a "Train of Hope", round-trip service from Washington D.C. to Vermont; and several "Coaches of Hope", departing from Portland, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts, will feature the same amenities and services as the train--healthy food, activities, and fun.
