General
Burlington, Vermont is located in Northwest Vermont, along the eastern shore of Lake Champlain and to the west of the Green Mountains. The greater Burlington area has a population of 150,000. Burlington is easily accessible via Interstates 87 and 89. Burlington International Airport is served by Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Jet Blue, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines and US Air.
Attractions
Recreational activities abound, including sailing, biking, kayaking and hiking in the summer, and skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter. The Burlington Bike Path, along the shore of Lake Champlain, offers miles of scenic biking, rollerblading, walking and running. Several alpine and x-country ski areas, including Stowe, Smuggler's Notch, Jay Peak, Mad River Glen, Sugarbush, Bolton Valley, and the Trapp Family Lodge, are within a short drive. Residents also have access to the UVM athletic facilities, including the Outing Club, and a housestaff gym that is located on site in the ACC.
The Vermont Stage Company, the new Waterfront Theater, the University of Vermont and Saint Michael's College offer a variety of theater productions throughout the year. The annual summer Vermont Mozart Festival at Shelburne Farms compliments a year-long concert series held by the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. The University of Vermont Lane Series, in conjunction with the Flynn Theatre in downtown Burlington, hosts the finest music, theater, and dance events.
