Department Chair
Mark Phillippe MD is a board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist with a long standing interest in myometrial physiology. He leads a successful research lab and has extensive experience in mentoring faculty, residents and fellows. He is the head of the clinical Women's Health Care Service and the chief administrator of the department.

Maternal Fetal Medicine Faculty
Ira Bernstein MD is a board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist with an interest in pre-eclampsia and fetal growth. He is the department Vice Chair of Obstetrics and Director of the division of Maternal Fetal Medicine. He is also the head of the Research Subject Advocacy Office, which oversees participation of human subjects in research for the University of Vermont.

Eleanor Capeless MD is a board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist with an interest in perinatal statistics, outreach, and regional perinatal care.

Peter Cherouny MD is a board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist with an interest in perinatal outreach and quality assurance. He is the head of the Quality Assurance Committee for the Women's Health Care Service.

David Jones MD is a board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist with an interest in ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis. He is head of the Fetal Diagnostic Center at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

Marjorie Meyer MD is a board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist with an interest in coagulation and placentation.

Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Faculty
Julia Johnson MD is a board certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist with an interest in menopause , reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Her research interests are in progestins and coagulation. She is the director of the Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility division and the department Vice Chair of Gynecology.

John Brumsted MD is a board certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist with an interest in endoscopic surgery. He is the Chief Medical Officer for Fletcher Allen Health Care.

Peter Casson MD is a board certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist with an interest in post -menopausal androgen replacement therapy and assisted reproductive technologies. He is the Director of the in-vitro fertilization program.

Christine Murray MD is board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility with an interest in polycystic ovary syndrome. She has a special interest in resident and medical student education. She is the director of the residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Daniel Riddick MD, PhD is a board certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist with an interest in mullerian anomalies and all aspects of reproductive endocrinology.

Gynecologic Oncology Faculty
Cheung Wong MD is a board certified Gynecologic Oncologist with an interest in molecular mechanisms of ovarian cancer. He plays an active role in resident teaching of surgical skills, both in and out of the operating room, and is the Division Director of Gynecologic Oncology.  He is the Associate Director of the Residency Program.

Emmanuel Soultanakis MD is an active candidate in Gynecologic Oncology. His interests include management of invasive and pre-invasive gynecologic malignancies, including surgical intervention, administration of chemotherapy, and end of life issues.

General Obstetrics and Gynecology Faculty 
Elizabeth Bonney, MD is board certified in general Obstetrics and Gynecology with special interests in sexually transmitted infections and other infectious diseases related to women's health. She is also the director of a basic research laboratory investigating the role of immunology during normal and abnormal reproduction and pregnancy.

Tracy Maurer MD is a board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with an interest in vulvovaginal diseases. She plays an active role in teaching in the resident outpatient clinics.

Elisabeth Wegner MD is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with special interests in colposcopy and ultrasound. She works closely with the residents in colposcopy training and pap smear evaluation and follow-up.

Reproductive Investigation Faculty
George Osol PhD is a full time faculty member in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with an additional appointment in the department of Physiology. His interest is in hormonal signaling within the uterine circulation. He runs a large basic science laboratory with techniques that range from functional vascular assays to molecular methods.

Marilyn Cipolla PhD has a combined appointment in Neurology and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Natalia Gokina PhD is a full time faculty member in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with an additional appointment in Pharmacology. Her interest is in the study of hormonal factors that regulate vascular smooth muscle calcium and membrane potential. She is an expert in electrophysiology and ion channels.

Certified Nurse Midwives 
Sandra Wood CNM, is the Director of the Certified Midwifery Service with an interest in the education and training of midwives.

Audrey Linn CNM, Nancy McClellan CNM, Martha Churchill CNM, Linda Hunter CNM, and Diane Dulude CNM complete the midwifery faculty.
