Positions

There are six residents in each year of training.  Appointments are for one year with annual reappointment for residents with satisfactory performance.

During the first year, there is emphasis on the basics of radiography, pathology, and diagnostic radiology, including plain film interpretation and fluoroscopy and introductory rotations in neuroradiology, ultrasound, body CT, pediatric imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, cardiothoracic imaging and nuclear medicine.

During the second and third years, residents attend the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology course  in Washington, D.C. (4 weeks) and Children’s Hospital Boston (2 months).  Advanced rotations are available in every section, including Interventional Radiology.  MRI and mammography occur during the second and third year.

During the fourth year, there is a continuation of the advanced imaging rotations of the second and third years, with progressive responsibility given to the more senior residents.  Completion of ongoing research and scholarship activity is encouraged during the fourth year.
