Research Conferences

Residents are required to attend the weekly Basic Science residents' conference, the weekly Surgical Grand Rounds, the weekly resident Surgery Review Conference, the weekly Quality Assurance conference, and the monthly interactive resident/attending Journal Club. Additionally, each service has required teaching conferences and rounds. During the months of July and August, an anatomical dissection course is conducted.

All residents in the program (including the research fellows and preliminary residents) are required to take the American Board of Surgery In Training Examination (ABSITE). Mock ABS oral exams are conducted annually for the fourth, fifth, and sixth year residents in the spring of each year.
