ASCCP Consensus Guidelines
The American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) sponsored a national consensus conference in Bethesda, MD on September 6-8, 2001. The 2001 Consensus Conference for the Management of Cytological Abnormalities and Cervical Cancer Precursors had representatives from 29 national and international health organizations, professional societies and federal agencies. In addition input was obtained from the professional community through Internet-based discussion groups.
As a result of the ASCCP consensus conference, algorithms for the management of women with cervical cytological abnormalities were developed and have been published (JAMA 2002;287:2120-2129). These management algorithms are also available at http://www.asccp.org/consensus.shtml
