ThinPrep Pap Test
In FDA clinical trials, the ThinPrep Pap test was demonstrated to be significantly more effective than the conventional Pap smear at improving the detection of cervical abnormalities, and more specifically biopsy proven High Grade SIL. In addition, the use of the ThinPrep Pap test significantly reduced the percentage of samples limited by obscuring factors; such as blood, inflammation and mucus. Fletcher Allen Health Care was one of the first laboratories nationwide to introduce ThinPrep Pap testing (1997).
